fun-a-day, day 10

another fairly light day.

i got a visual bell implemented. so now if the termainal
program tires to ring the bell (i.e. sends the byte 0x07)
then the screen will briefly flash.

i also cleaned up and generalized some other code.

i've got some big issues/changes coming up which i've hopefully
laid the groundwork for and will tackle this weekend.
